welp, i think i've made it into a block chain. all the socjus twitters i've visited today have barred me from reading their perspectives.
-
-
Because of you laci im staring to message some of the people im disagreein with in dms' ½
-
to try to negate any hostility and try to see if theres something i can see for why they think like they do 2/2
-
so im tryna talk with some of the tariq followers to try and see where theyre comin from maybe.
-
If someone has a valid, sound view. They should be able to reasonably be able to get you to understand. Unless they are someone who shouts
-
the guys im messaging kinda are shouting and frankly i think are very misinformed, but everyone has a reason for actin how they do.
-
Yeah. The main trouble is the misinformed never want to hear a view that may differ from theirs
-
what im offering up is for me to say nothing, i just wanna hear their perspective.
-
I spent my time shoutin today, gotta take time to listen too.

I'm blocked by tonnes of people I've never interacted with and probably have very little conflict with. It's unproductive to do that.
-
In your case, yes. Because you engage in good faith. But there are many who do not. And I feel absolutely fine filtering them out.
-
don't get me wrong I've been helping people import and export blocklists so they can avoid the "thot patrol" today
-
There's uses for this stuff, I just think it's also worthwhile to not get carried away with block sprees or bots

Unfortunately they're terrible inconsistent because they're manually maintained. They're a very broad solution to an existing problem.
-
I understand the need for them, but it's very much a "baby out with the bathwater" solution to the problem.
-
Not following. What problem?
-
The problem of blocking people who repeatedly troll/harass people on Twitter. The problem with block bots is there's no consistency.
-
Oh. Lol. I genuinely thought everyone understood that Twitter is just for shitposting or, at least, not having a meaningful dialogue.

It’s the shut-down of opposing views for the protection of uncertainty and personal anger felt towards contradiction.
-
Now, some users may feel the need to block out toxicity, but it showcases a pattern of neglect and bias to hide from an opposing thought.
