the number of emails i get from folks asking if this is a normal feeling is...troubling. your lover should make you feel VERY GOOD for the *vast majority* of time you spend together. sure you may have an argument, but it shouldn't be cyclical anxiety or sadness. men + women alike

I was having troubles with my PTSD caused by my soon to be ex-husband he would put me down and yell at me. If he did not like something I liked he would make me feel like a bad wife and excused me of things I would never do then blame it all on me like I was abusive and evil.

My ex would abuse me this way. He would normalize his behavior and it eventually did manipulate me into believing everything he said. I became gas lighted about my own feelings and it made me question my insanity. I felt like I was being ripped at the seams most days.
-
But I constantly had to remind myself that it wasnt okay. He isnt right. No matter how convinced he was with his actions, he couldn't convince me too. Not completely. I kept trying to fight back. I'd give in a lot, but who I am deep down kept fighting to break free.

my sanity** ahh I'm embarrassed LOL but thanks for saying this, it's really important.

Amen to this, been there & it’s a awful thing even more awful when you don’t see or notice the abuse because that’s how you were shown “love” as a child. It wasn’t until I dated someone new that I noticed relationships aren’t supposed to be full of jealousy, anger & control

Just had to break up because of this. Love her to death but I can't take anymore. I really hope she gets the help she needs

Thank you. It took me a while to accept that just because she never put her hands on me doesn't mean it wasn't abuse.

I would never tell my wife that. For 22 years I've told my wife she is(smarter, stronger and sexier than everybody) every chance I get. If someone tells that to their partner or love one they are a real POS. Need a swift kick to the balls or corn hole.

When I was in the military and would come home cut up bleeding and smelling like death, and when I woke from many surgeries (from removing metal to cancer removal) My wife was there telling me I was wonderful. Even struggling threw PTSD.
