Looking at the Y-DNA, shouldn’t ANE branch off much closer to Paleo-Siberians and ancestral East Asians rather than Western Hunter Gatherers? For example Tianyuan man was Y haplogroup K, parent of both R and Q.

If "southern" East Eurasians were more of a coastal population, then some of them could've traveled along the coast all the way to the Americas. And because coast lines changed after the Pleistocene, we wouldn't have much of an archaeological record of that.
