I wonder how this article would have read if the author had picked the airplanes in ancient India crowd instead of the Vanuatans.

+1 regarding the Reich group's openness. I've pestered them many times for help with their data or software & have always received a quick, pleasant, useful response. I, perhaps more than most, appreciate how noble it is to be so forthcoming with your scientific tools + material.

I agree; fully support DR. See my main reply; such success has always attracted the troll writers. Stakes are high. Read Berger's account of challenges from Tim White & the Leakys (In the Footsteps ...), also Swisher: (Javaman)...the glass is not 1/2 empty; it overflows.

Again...interesting a few years back w/Lee Berger, John Kalb, Carl Swisher, etc hung out the dirty linen in the hunt for human fossils ("bone trade"). Like deja vu all over again with big stakes (and egos) at play w/aDNA. Its bringing out the troll writers. Nice expose Rajib.

"human geneticists have sharp elbows" Yep. NZ's hardly big enough for one group of human geneticists. I wasn't part of that group, and it eventually drove me away.

There's a difference between uncomfortable truths and the belief that something is true *because* it is uncomfortable. Presentation aside, the piece claimed that Reich's claims are simply not the truth, or, at least a very incomplete and oversimplified version of it.

The emotion with which a claim is received is neither evidence against nor in favor of the claim, yet it is used (by different people) as *both*.
