Reposting. A few months ago, someone asked me for three or four changes in political journalism that might begin to right this ship. (Emphasis on begin to…)

As we trade folk might have mentioned before, outside of the single market and the customs union of the EU, problems at borders are normal. Delays common. Great job of the Brexit supporters to find supposed experts claiming otherwise, but now back to reality...

A curator from the National Museum of American History was preserving items brought into the Capitol by rioters as historical artifacts. Incredible yet obvious — those will be in an exhibit some day that people will shake their head at in disbelief.

I really hate being a Cassandra, but it’s time to start thinking about this in terms of the “Troubles” in Ireland. Insurgencies don’t pop up and disappear.

MPs are being asked to shovel through, in a single day, a bill that was published yesterday, implementing a treaty agreed six days ago, which comes into force tomorrow night. The European Communities Act 1972 was debated in Parliament for 300 hours. Today's bill will get about 5.

It’s now imperative that PM seeks an agreement to extend the Brexit transition period. The new Covid strain - & the various implications of it - means we face a profoundly serious situation, & it demands our 100% attention. It would be unconscionable to compound it with Brexit.

3: We have just learned that there will be no agreement today. Therefore, the European Parliament will not be in a position to grant consent to an agreement this year.

It seems clear now that there is no deal at midnight. The normal parliamentary procedure for an agreement is no longer possible + no more ratification by 31.12.2020. Now we have to think very objectively about how to deal with the situation. Likely we’ll have UKEUCG tomorrow.

Nine months ago, we were doing Upstart Crow in the West End. Then it suddenly closed along with every other play in Britain. I was so sad. I still am, but I'm proud and happy that we've got a Christmas special on on Monday night. Next year, I hope, back on stage.

8/ The EU would not be subject to threats or pressure as a result of the bills and the UK was mistaken if it thought the EU would move on its position within the negotiations as a result of the threats, he said.

Some people seem pretty relaxed about tonight’s Brexit developments in London. Not clear that’s well founded optimism. But, as a reminder and as difficult as it is, the NI Protocol is there for just this scenario... provided both parties are still committed to make it work!

Wszystkie, podkreślam, wszystkie działania PiS wpisują się precyzyjnie w rosyjską strategię rozbijania Unii Europejskiej i geopolityczną izolację Polski. Czy robią to świadomie jest pytaniem drugorzędnym.

I’ll say again the weak point in the strategy of putting on a calm face in response to an outright coup attempt and hoping everything will work out is the spineless officeholders only feel pressure from the authoritarian side.
