And that excuses the officer in question assaulting them man who’s already being restrained by another officer? Regardless of what happened before the video, there is no justification for that officer to hit him and act in the manner that he did.

If you don't put an end to such uneccessary brutality people will turn on you in large numbers, with officers on the receiving end whilst onlookers opt not to help them. It's your choice, but don't complain when it happens.
