It’s important to respond that most of the country’s (and the world’s) economists and scientists say precisely the opposite. Pricing pollution is an essential part of any serious #ClimateChange plan.https://twitter.com/AndrewScheer/status/1080586532904411136 …

Revenue tools. The new word for taxes. carbon tax, or pollution tax, raises the price of everything and they rebate some people enough to pay gas and oil only. What a break. They already take almost half your salary in taxes. Still hundreds of billions in debt.

“Revenue tools.” Wynne started using that term about 4 yrs. ago to disguise her pocket-picking. Fee, surcharge, levy, duty, price ... supercalifragilisticexpialidocious. A tax by any other name would smell as putrid. And, ultimately, only one overburdened taxpayer

Health concerns have already changed the way that China and India are dealing with pollution. The countries you mention with the exception of Trump's America ...have committed to reduce pollution. Paris Accord. Canada can be an innovative leader.

you do not have a solution if you believe that economically putting yourself at a disadvantage is a solution to a issue, it must fail by definition. If those countries do not change anything we do is simply posturing and beyond stupid. We are a rounding error and do not matter.

You want to become a nation of people walking around with face masks like they do in some Chinese cities? Life is good here in Canada. Please offer a solution other then everyone is doing it so why shouldn't we? My mom taught me that one is no excuse for doing the wrong thing.

please be an adult. we will not be walking around with face masks but nice hyperbole. I want to have a viable country with a viable economy that is all we can do, we already have much stricter environmental standards. go pressure china or india to change and for real.

We want the same thing Curtis. And I think we both believe in science as science has led to our discussion this morning. I believe humans need to address the harm we are doing to our world according to 99.9 percent of scientists. I believe in Canada and environmental standards.

Probably tongue-in-cheek......but not a bad idea. Sewage is an externality and should be taxed (or at the very least shoild be pay-for-use) so that the true cost is properly reflected.
