    Big move by 🇬🇧 on climate. Westerners don’t realize it, but we’re funding a lot of bad investments though our development agencies. Assaad is a great follow.

    UK becomes 1st major economy to end public finance for fossil fuels abroad - which it showered with £2.6bn over past 5 years (v. £104m for renewables) There is ZERO financial or climate or development rationale for export agencies to spend one more penny on fossil fuels THREAD

    Of all the things that changed in 2015, none meant more than this. I listened to the first 🇸🇾 refugees who came to 🇨🇦 under the new policy on this morning. Several become citizens today.

    I am forever grateful to Canadians and to the leadership of and his government for making this lifeline happen.
