Today my office initiated a lawsuit against @doordash for illegally misclassifying employees as independent contractors.
“I assure you this is just the first step among many to fight for worker safety and equal enforcement of the law"

Sir, with all due respect: Cut it out! Most of us drivers want to remain Independent Contractors because of the flexibility and because e make more than minimum wage.
#AB5 only guarantees minimum wage. Not good enough.2 replies 9 retweets 32 likes -
Also, don’t forget that
#AB5 takes your independent contractor tax deductions away. So, your home office, internet, phone, etc is gone.3 replies 2 retweets 13 likes -

Yes. The nature of my profession is of an IC. I decide who I work with, where, & when. I don’t need an employer as I make way above min wage & pay for my health insurance and retirement plan. Why would I need an employer? I also have my IC tax deductions (travel 2 conferences)

Not all jobs match the employee model & not all people can work that way. I know interpreters who are care givers, people with disabilities, of who care for kids with disabilities. The only way they can make a living is working on their own terms.
#ab5 left them with nothing.pic.twitter.com/c5bYUJQVdY
