When you're an employee you can just get reimbursed for those things instead of having to claim them as tax deductions

Hahahah no. When you are a PT nope. Next theory please. Also, I have 3 certifications that require cont. ed. my employer doesn’t pay for the classes to keep up with that unless you are PT with benefits.

Yes. The nature of my profession is of an IC. I decide who I work with, where, & when. I don’t need an employer as I make way above min wage & pay for my health insurance and retirement plan. Why would I need an employer? I also have my IC tax deductions (travel 2 conferences)

Exactly. As a freelance interpreter I drive a LOT and that’s one of my big tax deductions.
