    Mapping out a blog post I truly wish I didn't have to write. Unbelievable case study (and not in a good way). Totally insane situation that is not improving when it absolutely should be. Not sure when it will go live. Probably next week. Stay tuned. You'll want to read this.

    Yep, they are watching. I posted this example the other day. Site impacted by the 8/1 update and then receives a site-wide manual action for unnatural links the next day. Site owner reached out to me right after. Site got crushed.

    Google is watching: put those links down!

    Removing content & authors from your site is a normal & organic site change (if you feel it's right to do that). Our algorithms aren't checking out the reputation/authority of all authors. Do what's best for your site. Google will recrawl & reprocess the site changes as usual.

    Maybe FB helped Google with the 8/1 update ;) -> Facebook assigns a trustworthiness score to each of its users (from 0-1). The score is one measurement among thousands of new behavioral clues that Facebook now takes into account

    Important note about the new "Links" report in GSC. This is different than the old GSC. Links are by ROOT domain, not property: "Data is grouped by root domain in the Links report; protocol (http/https), subdomain (m., www) and subdirectories are stripped and grouped together."
