you’ll have to bring down the entire Democratic campaign infrastructure bc that’s what all major candidates have been doing for decades just keep it real, you’re looking for a way to tear down Bernie

This is not how data is managed within the DNC or for canvasing.
-
as someone who has worked with DNC and is currently working with them i can tell you that you are unequivocally wrong

It sounds bad at first, but... it's just a canvassing tool that leverages grass roots people-power instead of corporate lists. As long as app users can't access personal info on anyone, I don't see an issue. If anything, it seems more effective than traditional lists.
-
It sounds bad and IS bad, that someone else can put my info into a database that I did not give permission for nor do I have any knowledge of it.
-
Please your friends sharing their cell phone contact list by using Facebook and others apps is far more invasive. You are on thousands of lists you never gave permission for and obviously hadn't thought about at all.
-
Yeah and that’s not a good thing or something I want a campaign emulating
-
then tell literally every political campaign since 2005 to stop
-
It’s not a normal (or effective) part of a canvassing tool to enter data on all your contacts and their preferences and then to share that data with anyone and everyone who runs a name search.
-
It literally is both of those things.

remember when obama’s campaign did the same thing and it was praised for engaging voters
-
Yeah, I don't remember that. I volunteered on both campaigns. VAN access had to be approved/setup by a campaign even for just the my list functionality. There was no anonymous access to voter data.
-
Lol forget VAN (which btw anyone who asked to data enter would get access), but people could literally go to http://Barackobama.com and have an auto generated phone list appear for them if they wanted to make calls from home. Travis you have no idea what you’re talking about.
-
Yeah I remember that very clearly, I spent hours using it You remember how it spat out a list of names you had no control over, as opposed to you being able to type in someone's name to look them up?
-
Exactly. The Bern app is not a virtual phone bank. Scope and level of access matter.
-
Not too mention there's a big difference between spitting out names at random of folks that opted in vs anyone anywhere being able to enter anyone's information that can then be accessed by anyone else.
-
You have no idea what you’re talking about. Please get off Twitter and actually volunteer. (FYI Obama’s campaign used both voter file data (‘MyVoters’) and data of anyone who ever interacted with the campaign in any way (‘MyCampaign’) in databases accessible to any volunteer)
