Gonna go on the Ted Talk circuit to talk about my electricity fast and how it connected me with my shtetl ancestors and the wisdom they proffered for the long apocalypse.
Thermochromic stamps issued by USPS commemorating the 2017 total eclipse of the Sun. The hair dryer warms the stamp, changing the black, to reveal the Moon. I bought two or three sheets when they came out, thought I'd used them all, but recently found an intact sheet.

There are 24 Jewish members of the current US House of Representatives. Of those 24, 22 of them, or 91.6%, voted against stripping committee assignments from Ilhan Omar.
Tell me again how this is about what actual American Jews want.
🧵RECAP OF TODAY’S DEFENSE: Despite the freezing weather, people came out to delay anti-abortion harassers as they processed to the clinic!
We delayed them for 1 hour, and blocked them with umbrellas outside the clinic so folks could access healthcare without seeing weirdos :)
Trump lost the election because he was the shittiest most embarrassing excuse for a “President” in American history who tanked our economy, ruined our world standing, committed endless crimes, emboldened Nazis, and sabotaged our pandemic response killing over a million Americans.
I took a bit of time to dissect the “spy balloon” story - both how it is portrayed in the US and China’s response.
As you'll see, the more you think about it, the more stunned you get at the sheer absurdity of the whole thing.
A small 🧵
“I felt a breathlessness and began gulping for air,” she said. “No matter how hard I was breathing, I was not getting air. It felt as if I was holding my breath, but I wasn’t. It filled me with a primal fear, like drowning.”
The pork industry has argued that its gas chambers for hogs are "animal friendly" and "painless." Then an activist sneaked into a meat plant and at risk to herself installed spy cams in the gas chamber--and the videos are devastating. Meanwhile, if you’ve ever had to use the Heimlich maneuver on someone larger than yourself, you know the trick is to get close, and grab your fist tight, well under their ribcage, pull in deeply
Watch this amazing video. The water bottle cap gets lodged in his airway. He can’t breathe. His teacher saved his life.
This is why everyone needs to know the Heimlich Maneuver!
Sometimes I love the sheer absurdity of being a queer chaplain in a red state. My pronouns are prominent on my badge. The patient was lonely and an elder and of course a Fox news watcher. The patient wanted to talk about the Chinese spy balloon that would turn people gay.
Not sure I'll ever complain about the cold again. Right now, the Mt. Washington Observatory in New Hampshire is the coldest spot on Earth with an air temperature of -45° and winds over 100 mph. That's an all time record low -106° wind chill for the US.
Bird Flu & it’s #H5N1 strain is spreading, raising the risk that a new variant could spread to people. “This time, we have not just the warning, but also many of the tools we need to fend a pandemic off. We should not wait until it’s too late.”

Being in another country, the UK feels like a crumbling mess. Public transport here (I’m in Germany) is faultless: fantastic trains, constant buses, cycle lanes everywhere. It’s clean. Money invested into making life easy and pleasant. Makes such a difference.
Pete Reed, a volunteer medic, was killed by shelling in Bakhmut, Ukraine yesterday while trying to evacuate civilians. One of the most selfless people I've ever met. Rest in peace, brother.
