This interview is a must watch. We need to convince our country to take Covid seriously or we will lose another 500k Americans. What makes this such a tragedy is that we are only a few months away from widespread vaccinations that will end this.

Trumpism isn’t going away, and neither is Trump. If he’s defeated this time, he could even run again in 2024 via

Pretty clear this race is coming down to the highly-predicted red mirage window in the mid-west, which could last at least 24 hours. Odds of Trump claiming victory before then are high. GOP petitions to stop the counts even higher.

This is remarkable. The candidate who started his campaign five years ago inveighing against Mexican rapists bringing disease now has a lot of Hispanic support.

Incredible how competitive Trump is with 230K+ covid deaths and kids being locked in cages and everything else. Even if Biden wins he will have to govern in a Trump country. This is who America is.

if the betting odds were the oracle that so many markets people think they are - wouldn't they have favored trump coming into the night?

Deepest fear now is that Trump will exploit Fla atmospherics etc to capitalise on the red mirage in MI, Pa and Wi - even though a full count of mail-in ballots is probably a Biden win.

Whatever the ultimate outcome of this election, this is a deeply divided country along political and cultural lines alike. Bodes badly for governing at home and for building a consensus as to the country’s role in the world. Sobering by any and every measure.

North Carolina holds the keys now. If Biden and Cunningham win, then the odds are strongly on a Blue Wave; if not, the odds are that Republicans hold the Senate, and Biden's path is much narrowed.

Whatever the final result - and I still think Biden will squeak it - American democracy is in a chronically bad state. Trump remains competitive, and possibly victorious, after having given the middle finger every day for four years to basic competence and decency.

Please, more of this, . It's astonishing to see how governments are completely disregarding their peers, who are going through the same crisis. Would it be so difficult to set up information sharing calls (Health Ministers or medical staff)?
