I know it’s popular to say “Ideas are easy. Execution is everything,” but I disagree. If ideas are so easy, why are most business ideas so bad? The opportunity you identify, and focus on, matters a lot.

Is it really "killer execution" if you're not seeing the need to pivot? Ideas change so much from inception. Airbnb was accomdation for conferences Uber was on demand black cars Google was pure search technology licensed to others PayPal was security software for pda

All those early ideas were still solid though! They were good enough to pull people in/learn from them, and developed into even better ideas and products. The first stage of a startup is learning, and that's way faster if your thing resonates w/ ppl (despite its imperfections)

Well you haven't specified how much money. And I’m pretty sure killer execution has made a lot of money so far. Say Tesla vs Edison.
-
Sure, but neither of those were really *bad* ideas though, right? One was demonstrably better than the other, but they both solved the same fundamental problem. Tesla failed because he was out-executed/out-spent, not because he had bad ideas.
