'Even a politician we have no respect for, as Prime Minister, will have achievements they can point to, unequivocally.' @ColinBrazierTV points to the detrimental impacts of only acknowledging the negative traits of 'complicated personalities'.

Fellow clergy - The People System online. What a total nightmare. I have better things to do than spend all day trying to navigate this ridiculous system. People friendly, what a joke.

Week 23 of protest. Still many tens of thousands on the streets of Tel Aviv. And elsewhere round the country. Lots of energy. Will be hard for politicians to ignore all of this.

Cooking master class from my mother in law. Okra (left in the sun all day) roasted tomatoes, garlic, preserved lemon and arak. Just divine.

Watching the Israeli Strictly Come Dancing. There is a female couple competing, but not because the woman is gay, rather because she is religious and so cannot touch another man who is not her husband. So interesting!

Spent my day looking at very big foundation stones in tunnels under the remains of the Jerusalem temple. One was 320 tonnes. Heavier than the plane that flew me here. How on earth did they move them into position? Quite extraordinary.

I know there is a lot more to Jerusalem than food. But the apple strudel in the Austrian Hospice on the Via Delarosa is outstanding.

Easily my favourite place for lunch in the whole wide world. Jerusalem Colony Hotel. This is exactly what heaven will be like. Or I’m gonna be disappointed.

The Trinity is not some riddle to be solved, as if some tricky cosmic puzzle, but a dynamic relationship to be entered into. Mystery > Puzzle

Went to the Anglican Church in Jaffa for Trinity Sunday then wandered down to the beach for a renewal of baptism vows. Rather lovely it was too.

Massive protest in Tel Aviv tonight on the 56th anniversary of the Occupation. This is the 22nd week of the protests and they still feel vibrant and passionate.

The Schofield pile on has become quite unacceptable. Morality has been twisted into something persecutory and viscous. Enough.

The public flogging, guided by incessant rumour & speculation, of Phillip Schofield has gone too far & must stop. Schofield is a broken man - having experienced that myself, I know that at that moment there seems to be only one final destination. We must also consider the toll… Show more

Sentamu has done a great deal for Christian Aid and as an advocate for the world’s poorest. This is indeed a sad day.

In industrial estate in Holon, south Tel Aviv at my brother in law’s (gray t shirt) amazing metal work factory. Business grown from just him in a forge to employing 16 (mostly Russian immigrants) and such extraordinary machines. Sell all over the world.

“Messiah” the poster proclaims (roadside Rehovot). This raises so many fascinating questions for me. Also the “one good deed and he will come” … presumably come again (given the Rebbe has died) … looks remarkably like a second coming. Jewish theologians, what am I missing here?

The cellar in my wife’s family home is like a little history of Israeli wine making. Quite remarkable stuff here. Off to the Flam vineyard tomorrow.

For a very secular Jew, my father in law really does have a remarkable collection of Christian icons. This too is extraordinary.

Anyone know about icons. I think this is from Belgrade area, circa 17th century. Could this be right? Looking for an expert.

Very long Jerusalem lunch ending with potato dumplings filled with apricot and home made apricot fire water, from Serbia. When booze comes in a bottle like this you know to be very afraid. Time for a little sleep on the sofa, I think.
