Exactly! Experiment on someone who could use it, not suppress the creativity of people that make their own

Don't forget that you never know how far youtube will take this, it basically shows they can fuck with stuff and obviously not say anything about it. "Give them an inch they'll take a mile" in other words if you let youtube keep doing this they'll keep changing stuff.

If it was a small website a 0.3%, then sure. However, Youtube is VERY big like over 1,3 billion accounts with even with 0.3% that is more than 3,9 million accounts, not to say that there is more than likely multiple videos on those accounts, and people can watch multiple times

This test is not on the channels, it's on the viewers. People aren't getting their videos shown without thumbnails, they are seeing videos without thumbnails when they browse the site (including their own dashboard, I guess).

I was about to argue further, then it clicked. They, as a user, were one of the .3%. gotcha.

I think the whole thing here is don't force people to do an experiment without consent even if they agree to it by making an account

The thing about this though is that what if one channel accidentally gets all or a majority of their viewers within that 0.3% that could take away a huge chunk of their viewer base if they don’t watch bc of thumbnails.

Sorry, I know you all are concerned and such, but the only issue I see here, is that youtube actually decided to SAY they were doing it, like everyone keeps asking. Companies do AB testing constantly, and often way more than .3% of the users are involved.
