Would also note in her statement that Jayapal says she got a commitment to waive PAYGO for Medicare for All

Then why was paygo put in the rules in the first place? Dems have the majority; there was no reason to include this Republican rule. Now we need help from the Republican Senate to repeal it which won’t happen. Too little too late.
-
I agree! Much better to complain about failure before it happens and to give up before it even starts. Helps keep the purity shine on. Doesn’t it?

@AyannaPressley@IlhanMN@RepRashida Please sign onto this to redeem yourselves -
It's too late for redemption. This bill won't see the light of day. It's just more BS to cover up. If they didn't want Pay Go they shouldn't have voted for it. End of story.

That's nearly 18 co-sponsors... they just needed 18 votes to sink paygo and they had them there
-
Because they were saving their ammo to win the war, not just the battle of the day.
-
I believe you will find that voting for a package that includes a provision that kneecaps almost every single item in your agenda is called shooting yourself in the foot
-
Look into the details of the law and how all the procedures work. There's as lot more to it than the face value that Cenk Ugyer and Jimmy Dore are showing.
-
I’d like to know more. Is there a link to a good article or video on PayGo that explains what you mean?
-
Here's a decent one that goes into explaining it. There was another one I found last night that I need to go back and find, it explained it perfectly.https://www.pastemagazine.com/articles/2019/01/why-are-democrats-backing-a-paygo-rule-that-will-m.html …

Why did they not just vote no?
-
Because then the rest of the very positive bill wouldn’t have happened...
-
And now this one shot kill part of the bill is a monumental obstruction to ANY GOOD. How's that positive?
-
The rest of the bill is positive. There’s a PayGo law at the root of this that would have to be overridden. Further, the heft of any bill that PayGo would obstruct means a vote to waive would have to occur anyway. No major Prog leg is going to pass before ‘20
-
And with this bill it might be 2030 before any Progressive legislation has a hope..... But yeah keep accepting traitorous mediocrity. Surely it will turn out well.
-
Purity politics the past forty plus years is exactly what brought this country to where it has gotten today. Stop cutting your own throats.
-
Disagree. The thing that's fucked up the country is politicians who've been bought and only do corporate interests.
-
It took people ignoring politics to help that evolve. Too many people played purity tests to avoid voting. they still do. It took years to get to this point. It will take longer to get back. People voting every election at all levels, also.
