6.0 has the same buggy escape analysis, so not going for 6.1 will only make things worse.

Afaict we had consensus for 6.1 in the LTS meeting. If we can get an abi compatible version of 6.2 it is worth doing some tests

you mean, 6.2 in LTS? from a quick look at the header diff I don’t think ABI/API compat is an obstacle in any way
