the obsession with serial killers as the late capitalist cowboy outlaw. very interesting idea. one of my fav illustrators Joe Coleman had a similar insight on it when he was interviewed about his piece in an Albert fish documentary. the serial killer is the last romanticized
outlet of pure freedom in a fundamentally detached and apathetic society, the cowboy is too howky and kitsch for modern society, so a new and more nihilistic breed of outlaw must inhabit the shadow of the pop-psyche.
