When someone says "capitalism" I immediately tune out. There's no way of knowing what exactly they are talking about & usually, they don't know either. When I hear "late capitalism" this is compounded. "Post-modernism" is similarly ill defined, as is "socialism."

All philosophical "problems" come from deploying spuriously defined terms as if they have a coherent, singular definition. It's like saying "my hand hurts" & then trying to determine "where" the "hurt" is- is it "in the hand" or in "the mind" etc. What they are saying is "ouch."

People decrying "postmodern late capitalism" are saying "ouch." They don't know what caused this ouch or where it resides, the content of the statement is merely the discontent at *gestures wildly to everything.*

People are lazy- they prefer deploying a "universal term" to really describing the particular contingency they have an issue with. "Life sucks" I say, but really I've just missed a train.

"Typical post-modernist late capitalism" says someone who just saw something they don't like, something that gave them an "ouch."
