David Hogg complaining about the SATs is a great self-own. I enjoyed that common complaint among grade grubbing mediocre striver "honors" students back in the day- they didn't know that the SATs were initially an IQ test lol, & still, mostly, are.

I remember this annoying student council girl who had a higher gpa then me gloating about her slightly above average SAT score & asked me mine expecting it to be lower- when it was higher- I saw a vein pulse on her forehead, her smile forced, eyes full of rage.

If you think about it- the push for these objective measures to be less important than GPA + "Activities" is a push for conformity that rewards midbrow striver class. If elite college admittance was solely based on test scores... I think it would be better tbh.

Protip: if youre in uni the reason why SAT score discussions is taboo is because errr certain populations have lower standards for admittance, & if this comes up in conversation, they get really mad lol.

The asians have a court case against the ivy league rn iirc over this point. They're the ones who get fucked the most by this. Ivy League asians with white last names often applied as white- as they've told me. "Thank god I didn't put asian."

Strivers are a sign of the inverted hierarchy in the age of inversion (call it the Kali Yuga for convenience)
@Aurini had a great point about this recently, the drama kids and the strivers are the new "cool kids", not anyone with natural ability, just this upper middle class1 reply 1 retweet 2 likes -
Effete sensibility you find in most deracinated urban centres (well America writ large now). It's like the same type of people, the same micro reza aslans that get a rush of self importance from stating their educational and credentialized bonafides..

Genuine intelligence should come with a serene humbleness of sorts, in other words if you have to go and brag, it's a sure sign that you are an eternal midwit, just smart enough to impress other proles but not enough to get a grip.
