I feel like being on the right inthe modern world in general leads to extreme dispair because we spend most of our time impotently bi**hing about things. Far leftists have the same temperament but at least have whiggism to comfort them in the long night of the soul.

Perhaps, I think besides our faith, the thing that could potentially save us is the naturalness of our ideas and the fact that they come back time and time again, things like order, tradition, hierarchy, virtue, etc..are more natural to the human experience. Modernity has..

Despair as defined as “God can’t possibly forgive what I did” is bad since it assumes a limit to God’s mercy. Like how Judas hanged himself since assumed he couldn’t be forgiven.

Despair as defined by “zomg everything is all h*cked up” is bad because it ignores the fact that Christ already won the War through his death and resurrection.

Sometimes I can't help but feel that way, I think it's similar to the one argument in the republic about the perfectly just man..the perfectly unjust is championed and celebrated, whilst what is Godly and just is further debased and made into a social pariah. That's why despair..

It can be pride if it assumes that one can commit a sin that God is incapable of forgiving. It can be blasphemous if it assumes a world that is so bad as to be a waste of Christ’s sacrifice. It can be likewise blasphemous if it ignores the fact that God’s triumph is inevitable

That's a very good answer my friend, I have to admit I sometimes feel the ladder, that this world is so full of evil and abomination that God might as well abandon us...but that is the farthest into despair you can go, borders on nihilism, and contradicts divine grace.

has been introduced into people, they have given themselves over to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness (Ephesians 4: 19)." They often talk about the sin of despair in the context of believing your sins will be forgiven. Sometimes people think their sins are so great, or

that they struggle with them so much, they have no hope of redemption. It's forgetting that mercy is mercy, that grace is grace. Maybe despair is a kind of egoism.

My buddy @Daring_Danny also says the same, that despair is shudder egoism, I think it would entail that your individual despairing elevates you above the Divine in a way, that you are admitting "only I carry this despair and no one, not even God can cure the sins of this world".
