I agree that his philosophy is still incredibly important to study. I think Arendt wrote something about him being an example of how philosophers being involved in politics = tyranny.

But considering that sources on his post-war life indicate his saltiness at Arendt equating Nazism&Bolshevism as equally destructive ideologies to the West....

I would say his attitudes were still repulsive, whether or not he ever "adopted Nazism in total".
