The only art left to us is the cultivation of personality- one's image becomes iconic, electric in celebrity. & I have my doubts as to whether nor not one can escape this, as to be anonymous or pseudonymous is only to become an icon of mystery- "elusiveness is lucrative"

If you do not belong to the web of tribal allegiances on various social media platforms- you do not exist. You will lose all of your facebook friends that are only your facebook friends if you leave the platform- you will disappear to them & they to you.

This should highlight the monumental power that the moderators of these platforms have- it is more power than any King had over the Printing Press in its early days & it is invisible to investigation- a perfectly impenetrable black box authority.

I remember in University a peer stated that cellphones social media etc were voluntary acquisitions- I said this was untrue in reality- the cost we pay for *not* wielding these tools is far higher than what is gained by renouncing them.

You will simply starve to death like Bartleby the Scrivener if you "prefer not to" participate- you cannot survive as an island unconnected to the network- & if you do- you will be the sound in the empty forest- which is not a sound at all.

Trd Kaczynski did this- or attempted to- & became so convinced of the necessity to "turn off" the grid for all- that he had to create a violent spectacle in order to have his words considered- in that forest, he did not exist. The Unabomber was his artwork of personality.

Thomas Pynchon was thought to be the Unabomber for a time. The parallels are clear. I suggest reading this portion (a short story) contained in Gravity's Rainbow: https://www.tildedave.com/byron.html

I think this is true, look at YouTuber e celebs, it's all about the brand, and being apart of a clique, this is nothing new of course, what defines the artist? Their own original virtuosity or the Mileu they work in?
