the upside to this goofy shit is it makes transgressive art fun again when modern art is dulled by often empty transgressions (lets throw pigs blood on everything), the gut punch of Therese Dreaming is a great reminder of what it actually feels like to be shocked by a painting

what i mean by that is that with these political changes, there's a clear opportunity for the artist who wishes to be more thoroughly transgressive, to flex those muscles again

my brother! I can't agree more, these people, like the one cited in the article going off on euro art, they can only destroy and deconstruct, they have zero artistic bones in their body, they have universally abandoned all that gives us meaning. -
i went and saw this painting in the MET recently it's brutal it implicates the viewer, standing in front of it you sort of check over your shoulder because of how criminal it makes you feel few paintings are capable of causing such turmoil in the viewer

It also surprises me how they never critique the arts of their own cultures as well, if any other culture-specific art was at the top, they would probably tear that down too.
