people complain about hipsters all the time, and they are corporate tools like anyone else, but IMO, hipsters pale in comparison to the Nerdgeoisie and its sheer power as an entity to be mobilized by capital, kneecap high culture, and flatten everything in its wake.
i think one has more cultural power and influence than the other, but in essence, yes, they operate in different ways, but are the same anti-culture cancer.

Its post-post ironic. Nerds have a mercurial pop culture and enough nihilism to pretend its not culture. Hipsters cobble together "exotic" stuff and upper-middle class swpl accoutrements to make a culture. I'd say that nerds are worse by far

my God what an amazing take....yes. the nerd is immunized against all thing of culture, philosophy and metaphysics (nihilism, scientism, etc. usually cocoons them from such things). they are fickle in consuming "nerd" trends with their NEET bucks, for supposed "galaxy brains"

they don't like reading an awful lot besides scifi, the occasional hard sciences, etc. they seem to be adverse to any exploration of the humanities whatsoever. they think their pablum gives them enough morsels of "meaning" I.E. watching star wars and talking about "the force".
