the number 1 thing i have noticed from films made by Canadian Francophone (Quebec for you non-canucks) Cinema is they are either incredibly moving, creative and breath-taking, or pure dog s**t, there is literally no in between. (same rule applies to Italian cinema).

The only italians films i have ever watched were Sono Tornato and some Bonelli's adaptations. What would you recommend?

There are tons of Italian 70s art house stuff. A pretty long film is a family saga called "the best of youth", that was a great one. Then there are the classics like cinema paradiso, Gomorrah, etc.
