In MMA, size begins to become significantly less advantageous once the weight class gets to Middleweight (185 pounds). The difference between middleweight to heavyweight (265) becomes minuscule, and Light Heavyweight (205) champ Cormier KO'ing Heavyweight champ Miocic shows this.

The king of kings Chael Sonnen was mentioning this exact point, how heavyweights have a smaller shelf life due to repeated injury and going at it with such intensity. although in pro-wrestling its almost the opposite because junior/lightheavyweights are more susceptible to injury
