Is there a lot of Hitler statues in Germany. It’s history, right?

Of course, it’s very important to know our history. But statues have never been for the sake of education. That’s the purpose of schools, museums, and re-enactments. Statues are for the glory, appreciation, and honor of those represented.

Additionally, the majority of these statues were not erected during or immediately after the civil war, like most “war hero” statues. They were erected during the Jim Crow era to celebrate the war that Confederates wished they had won.
