Looking forward to speaking about data and privacy at @linuxfoundation Open Source Summit in Lyon (also waitlisted on historical perspective on Free and Open Source). Looking forward to it. Never been to Lyon and have actually had a bit of a dry spell speaking at events.

It's a beautiful city, and I have many suggestions if you are interested in things to see and do!

Ah, yes I would. I have Lonely Planet France but otherwise don't know anything. Will probably have a couple days to myself. Actually flying into Paris and will take TGV to Lyon.

Wandering around the Traboules on old Lyon, walking the steps up to Fourvière, thé Museum of Miniatures (also Vieux Lyon) are All great! There's a beautiful city park right beside the conference center, including a zoo and a botanical gardens, wonderful for a stroll.

I'm going to stay at the Marriott by the convention center for the conference but then I'm going to stay a couple of nights at a boutique hotel closer to Vieux Lyon.

The public transport system is great, and cycling is definitely an option from the conference hotel, either on the cycle path beside the river or through the park.

I'm just really shaky cycling. I didn't learn as a child and I basically only do it on something like the Acadia carriage paths. And even there I had a fairly nasty crash last time I went on them.
