Yes, I agree with that, but unfortunately both his popularity within the party and his position of power reflects that "the very worst parts of the Democratic Party" remain an influential component of the party if not its dominant part.

The ideological sweet spot for the prevailing part of the mainstream press is the establishment wings of both parties. They love everyone in the range of Chuck Schumer to Jeb Bush, Rachel Maddow to Nicole Wallace. As long as you're within that, you can get away with anything.
