That's one of the most toxic effects of social media: the reason it exacerbates polarization is because all the reward/punishment incentives are to cling mindlessly to one faction and never deviate. That's particularly destructive for journalists & other types of analysts.

If you want a large audience, partisan-affirmation seems to be far more marketable than objective and impartial analysis but then this is hardly surprising... it's been a successful business model for retaining audiences in mainstream broadcast news for a while now.

For what it's worth, I'm a pro-Trump guy and have no intention whatsoever of unfollowing either you or
@mtracey.
(I reserve, of course, the right to disagree with you, but your commentary is invariably worth reading regardless.) -
I try to read all sides. I'm a Berner but if I post a site that leans right I get crap. Ppl love their little boxes

Very true. Just followed you for a different opinion.

Well thank you! If we were all the same be a really boring world.

Yup, people rarely like challenging ideas. They just want confirmation of their ideas

It's like religious fundamentalist who go door to door & insist on your believing. Almost like if u don't believe in my god,then my god might not exist. They drive me nuts. I'm in rural Bible belt.

That's why the big corporate media outlets won't be objective and sometimes deviate from their narrative. They lose profits when they lose viewers. The truth has a lot less importance to them than profits do.

hmmm- I don't particularly care if people follow me or not. It's nice if they do but it doesn't really affect my life. Twitter is helpful for getting breaking news and finding out what is on peoples minds.

why do you pick this weird little idiot to promote when there are hundreds of other people saying the same thing who actually deserve attention rather than just desperately craving it

I wouldn't rule out the additional possibility that algorithms are purging followers who have not engaged with targeted individuals for a while. I have been unfollowed from people I like, and vice versa. At the admin level, this platform has become an unofficial DNC proxy.

Too bad. We should all make it a point to listen to people we disagree with, people who are intelligent and do their research.
