    1) It looks like a plain, regular truck 2) It can go 300 mi on a charge 3) It has a big ol’ tailgating/camping/cookout-ready trunk under its hood 4) If your power’s cut, it can keep your house lit and cooled for 3 days. I believe Ford has itself a winner.https://www.nytimes.com/2021/05/19/business/ford-electric-vehicle-f-150.html …

The F-150 is a mainstay of the American road, so having an electrified version that does more than the internal-combustion model *and* costs about the same is — as Joe Biden might say — a “big f––ing deal.”pic.twitter.com/o3K0j3RwE6

As for the price: $40K, which becomes $32.5K after factoring in the federal EV tax credit. For residents of states with their own EV tax credits, the cost after incentives could dip below $30K. https://electrek.co/2021/05/19/ford-f-150-lightning-starts-under-40k-w-300-mile-range-and-can-power-your-home/ …pic.twitter.com/YYcNSVUcLK

Welp, after the announcements of Ford’s F-150 and GM’s Hummer and Silverado, I believe we’re seeing the second shoe drop. The electric light-truck market just might not have much room for startups. Maybe GM buys the Lordstown plant back? Who knows …https://twitter.com/Reuters/status/1404462416944156673 …

At the risk of putting the cart before the horse, we need a policy conversation about how to incentivize people to switch.

We do. I think the charging investments in the American Jobs Plan would make up a big part of that, providing reassurance that running out of juice is an incredibly remote possibility. But getting the cost down is its own incentive, and in this instance the price seems great.
