The Rift is located at the epicenter of the incident and the neighboring research labs were abandoned with the first explosion. The Phase Runner is an intricate portal system that connects "three distinct areas" of Olympus. It's essentially a series of fixed, large-scale portals spread around the arena. This is what one of the entrances looks like:pic.twitter.com/OYALYZu6OP
The S7 gameplay trailer shows a bit of the Phase Runner in action around the 0:13 mark (https://youtu.be/YV12-kknruM?t=13 …). Essentially, it's one big Wraith portal, with two differences: 1) it will always lead to/from the same place, and 2) players take ring damage while inside it.
The Phase Runner is part of the contrast between "industrial areas and that clean, modern style" (thanks @videorespawn for the quote). You can see some industrial facilities in the gameplay trailer, but the modern areas are where Olympus really shines.pic.twitter.com/5W8bAPmOGv
Bonsai Plaza is the "crown jewel" of Olympus (again, thank Dave for that quote). It's a unique POI that houses lavish restaurants, cherry blossom/bonsai trees (in true Olympian fashion), and an open square. ...the exquisite Reverie Lounge looms over the plaza atop one of the nearby buildings. The only ways to get to the lounge are through the dropship or with two vertical ziplines inside the building. That's not the only lavish remnant of Olympus' time as a flying utopia/resort. The Autumn Estates appear to be a cluster of pod-like houses with a modern look (rounded buildings!). Dave Osei shared some info on the POI in this tweet:https://twitter.com/videorespawn/status/1322210551695437826/ …
The Estates could be the site of some fast-paced, high-octane firefights. Players can go around, above, and through the houses (those doors look breakable!!). Legends with mobility can have a field day here.pic.twitter.com/QL5sBClzob
I mean, take a look at all these buildings. Now, remember that Horizon's tactical is essentially a portable gravity lift (@DreStav did an amazing write-up on her skills here https://dotesports.com/apex-legends/news/here-are-all-of-horizons-abilities …) and try to imagine how well it could work.
Among other things you can expect to see in Olympus, there are a handful of industrial areas to explore (seen in the gameplay trailer), but even those look open enough to have a few firefights in (and maybe snipe a Trident that's passing by). P.S.: Olympus is "roughly a little larger than Kings Canyon, but it is smaller than World's Edge." There's definitely enough room to fight.
