Eternal improved a lot. Didn’t think they’d be able to catch up so quickly, but have to give credit where it’s due. #OWL2023
I think I’ve seen enough at this point - if you don’t have a top Winston player, you should probably commit to playing other comps. JQ, Ram both seem conditionally strong, and we’ve seen success on both Wrecking Ball and D.Va.

A lot of players aren’t getting ANY value from Primals, have poor tempo and take too much poke/sleeps/purples, and would probably contribute a lot more to their team while playing to strengths. You can even make other styles of dive work with the Ball if willing to commit.
Maybe people are trying - I don’t see the scrims… but it feels frustrating to watch this play out when teams would probably get more value playing something else. You can’t make up for the 7 years of experience in this case.
Genuine abomination of a format. Do something right, please.

If you missed it during the preshow explanation, the #OWL2023 Grand Finals format is a bit...interesting this year. 8 teams (5W, 3E) divided into 2 double-elim brackets. 2 winners in each bracket make it to a single-elim, 4-team Grand Finals bracket.

As far as I can tell, the purpose of double elimination brackets is to guarantee good final standings, and that the best two teams make it to the finals. This bracket does not accomplish that. I don’t understand how you can even rationalize it.
Somebody from the league should come out and give an explanation for why they chose this format, because until then, you can only explain this choice through incompetence.
