  1. This week's estimated rainfall for Wednesday, Thursday and Friday morning. Heaviest rain falls Thursday. Flash Flood Warnings possible, especially for mountains and Southside. Warnings likely Thursday night. Wind damage/tornadoes not likely.

  2. Cool and wet for Wednesday across the Lynchburg area, Danville and Roanoke. Temperatures gradually turn colder throughout the day. Occasional rain.

    Poništi
  3. Tuesday is "mainly dry" as most of the eastward moving showers will fall apart in the mountains. Get your outdoor projects wrapped up Tuesday-- rain is likely Wednesday morning. Heavy rain by Thursday!

  4. Welcome to April, friends! We would actually be closer to 75° right now if these clouds disappeared.

    Poništi
  5. You'll love next week if you like Spring weather! Near 70° on the first Monday of February.

    Poništi
  6. Many of you are reporting snow! Here at the WSET, we've had a mix of rain and snow, and now it's "all rain". Temperatures will remain above freezing this afternoon, so any wintry precipitation will quickly melt.

    Poništi
  7. Looking ahead into February, I don't see any obvious signs of a "big snow" or major winter storm for Lynchburg, Danville/Southside or Roanoke. Timing continue to be off for cold air and precipitation at the same time.

    Poništi
  8. *Rain begins Friday afternoon* Friday morning is dry, then rain increases during the afternoon. Rain could begin in early afternoon. Most locations (LYH, DAN, ROA) are cool and wet by 5 to 8pm. No significant wintry precipitation is expected.

  9. *Light snow develops in the mountains of SW Virginia on Thursday morning.* Be careful driving I-81 and I-77 and mountain roads. Totals up to a "dusting" to "light coating" could occur in the mountains-- this is a minor winter event.

    Poništi
  10. Be careful driving Thursday morning along I-81 and I-77 in SW Virginia. Snow totals up to 1" (few amounts higher) are possible in the mountains. Light snow likely in Roanoke, Blacksburg, Pulaski, Radford, Christianburg, Floyd, Wytheville, Hillsville.

    Poništi
  11. *1inch snow totals possible in the mountains* Snow develops in the mountains late Wed night and early Thurs morning. Snow totals up to 1" possible in/near the mountains. If driving in the Roanoke area, and especially I-81, be prepared to see snow!

    Poništi
  12. As advertised, tonight is the heaviest rain. Most of this rain will push thru by midnight. Use caution driving! Very wet roads, running water on the roads.

    Poništi
  13. Be careful driving tonight across Virginia! Low visibility in the heavy rain, and fog/clouds increase into the mountains. 1" to 2" rain totals for most.

    Poništi
  14. Heavy rain moving over the fire scene at Bedford Middle School. Up to 2" of rain could fall in the Bedford area tonight. Rain increasing in Lynchburg area during next hour, and especially later tonight.

    Poništi
  15. Heavy rain coming! Rainfall totals of 1" to 2" are likely from this batch of rain. This rain will slowly march eastward tonight. Be careful driving! Wet roads, foggy, low visibility.

    Poništi
  16. The heaviest rain on Friday will fall Friday night. Downpours will push the day's rain totals into the 1" to 2" range.

    Poništi
  17. *Winter Weather Advisory issued* This is for the mountains, Blacksburg, Roanoke, Lexington and Covington. A few slippery/icy spots are possible Friday morning. Brief freezing rain or sleet will be possible in the highlighted counties.

    Poništi
  18. The first batch of rain moves in Friday morning. "Occasional rain" is the best description for Friday. -Heaviest rain falls during P.M. hours, especially Friday night -Rain chance is 100% -A few icy spots on bridges could be briefly possible before 8am

    Poništi
  19. Wow... you can see the smoke from Lynchburg. :( If you've been following the awful story of the Bedford Middle School fire, you can actually see the smoke from Lynchburg. The smoke is the hazy spot in the middle left in front of the mountains.

    Poništi
  20. This is depressing for snow lovers and happiness for folks who hate snow! In the next 2 weeks, I don't see any obvious big winter storms for us. I'm watching the first week of February, but snow is likely confined to the mountains and West Virginia.
