That's not to say her vote was right. (I want a higher minimum wage.) But a lot of the commentary on here misses that some senators are working with different political incentives than whether Twitter gets mad at them.

I know this is my hobbyhorse but I think this is exactly the thing mainstream Dems failed to do last summer — actually antagonize police abolitionists in a way that generates visible separation. Crazy to instead pick a fight over a popular progressive idea.
-
That's my issue as well. Sinema (and the other non-Manchin Dems) voting yes would have gotten the Senate 0% closer to passing a $15 minimum wage *in the COVID package* so I am at a complete loss to explain what appears to be a massive own-goal.

And as long as the minimum wage is increased, no harm done.

...The minimum wage isn’t going to be increased.

She’s definitely leaning into that branding, but this actually seemed like a more popular policy to do it with We’ll see if it gets used against Kelly I suppose

That's fine but we are still going to tell her supporters that she voted to make sure most of them still work on starvation wages. If a Republican comes along and invokes that vote she will probably lose. A Progressive taking her seat shouldn't be what she is worried about.

There is no way she loses that senate seat for the foreseeable future. She’s here to stay and the wage will increase. Just not to 15$ in one shot.

Why is she so indispensable? Are AZ voters passionate about her? She squeaked in barely.

I keep seeing this rationale, but I have yet to see any evidence for it. She didn't vote down some left-wing hobbyhorse, she voted down a measure that is incredibly popular among the American people. Also, Mark Kelly is a real person. He literally exists. How did he vote again?
