It's good to be proactive and tell people something bad is happening as soon as possible. And it's possible a new variant will turn out to fully evade vaccine-induced immunity. But maybe wait for any evidence showing that before trying to incite a panic.

I'm dealing with the impacts of this as I am currently desperately trying to convince my parents to get the COVID vaccine, but one of their arguments is "they don't know if the vaccines will work against the new variants". I'm exasperated.
