It isn't hard to tell people the vaccine will let them do a lot of things they couldn't do before (you can hug your vaccinated family!), but that they should still wear a mask and physically distance in public for a bit. It's bizarre the messaging on this has become so muddled.

A lot of the people are too dumb. The Thanksgiving/Christmas surge seems to infer such, anyway.

Hard disagree. People are making choices based on risk/reward and selfishness, but that’s not obviously “dumb.” Messaging that assumes people can’t appreciate nuance does us all a disservice by reducing vaccine compliance and depressing everyone

Maybe, but people are amazingly dumb. You ever try to get two things done with one letter? Or to convey a message saying, "No, it's not X, it's not Y, it's usually somewhere in between, but circumstances vary,"?
