Many of the big public health messaging mishaps, including this but also masks, seem to come about when some experts take a paternalistic, the-people-are-too-dumb-to-do-the-right-thing view. And it just never works out.

The whole thing is a joke. I saw Fauci on TV recently, unable to tell people that there is hope on the horizon!

Public health is caught again in its self-imposed bind of not wanting to tell people the truth for fear of how it will be interpreted.

We have become a country that has to politicize everything.

the reason *why* one should still wear a mask and physically distance (to keep up the social norm so non-vaccinated people keep doing this) seems to have been intentionally obfuscated, which is annoying

As someone who just got a vaccine and isn't sure what I'll be able to do by late March...what is the truth?
-
New story out discussing this: https://www.vox.com/future-perfect/22291959/covid-vaccines-transmission-protect-spread-virus-moderna-pfizer …. Short version: you should feel safe hanging out with other vaccinated people.

They simply don't have a clue how to do PR on this. People on the fence for vaccines are looking for excuses not to take it. If you give them excuses...you are part of the problem.
-
What if my excuse is that I’m 34 and have almost 0 risk of dying from Covid so I don’t feel the need to get vaccinated?
