Unfortunate to see that providing critical funding for mental health is being framed as just another new tax. There is ample evidence indicating that investing in mental health and prevention ultimately saves taxpayers money and benefits society

Only 4% of philanthropic funding is given to . Duplication of offers is causing confusion. Time for "outcomes not output". Time to . Invest in finding answers, not just services

Doing a PhD in your 20s is strange bc lots of your friends are doing their bachelors & you slowly start hating them for saying things like "oh i can't wait for the holiday break" repeatedly around you

What neural circuits drive emotional binge eating in female mice & how can this reflect human female eating behaviour?Binge eating post low grade but chronic stressful stimuli personally resonates; note that in mice it's not related to ovarian hormones 🤔

The 2010s were meant to be the era for psychiatry; wherein we would validate biomarkers for DSM diagnoses! This hasn't occurred yet, so how can we enter 2020 with more targeted questions that can achieve precision medicine in this field, asap?!-

We need more clinical psychiatrists and psychologists to be attending conferences like . The biology of psychiatric disorders is important. Avoid the silo mentality. Excellent point from Jayashri Kulkarni.

From the chair - excellent work at but unfortunately there is less funding for basic research. We need to fund the whole pipeline - basic and clinical research to get answers.

Basic research in psychiatry has been under the microscope as of late! Its vital that the importance of this work & the applications it has across diagnoses, is understood & reflected funding wise. Discovering how we function, even at the cellular level is far from basic

An excellent opening to with discussing the relationship between mental illness & immunology. Reconnecting mind, brain & biopsychosocial environments will hopefully pave the way to clinically translational outcomes, that fully support a patient's experience 🧠
