Counterpoint: Our candidates will be a lot stronger if they actually take a stand against Trump and his GOP cronies instead of compromising into oblivion.

A candidate who says they will work across the aisle and compromise so we can have more of *gestures* all of _this_ is a non-starter. Let's see some candidates that are actual opposition to the GOP for a change instead of ones trying to be GOP-lite.
-
Ye gods it says a lot when the best some folks have to offer is "vote for us or Trump will win" and see no reason to do better. Such a low bar. Such minimal effort. Mood for 2020: Demand better.
-
If you vote for the lesser evil you still end up with evil. Demand better.
-
"I don't get it. We voted for the lesser evil, but things aren't getting better." Right. Because you didn't want things to get better. You wanted evil. How to avoid that? Maybe... don't make it a choice between two evils.

-
"But we _have_ to run someone who is lesser evil so we can get votes from the evil people." Honey, the evil people are going to vote for evil, not the lesser evil. Why not run someone who is good, actually? (The evil people won't vote for them either—BUT AT LEAST THEY'RE GOOD.)

I'm sorry, but no. I've seen enough of Sarah Sanders and Kellyanne Conway doing this for Donald Trump. I'm not going to blindly follow a person just because of their party. If the Democratic party wants to present a good candidate, then they should be critical of the nominees.

As long as the criticism is constructive, and not just I don’t like so and so cause they’re old.

This old person thanks you.

The ageism is ridiculous. All other isms are taboo as they should be, but ageism is embraced. And sexism.
-
Hey old people, remember what ageism feels like when you are talking to children.
-
Absolutely! Thanks for the reminder.

Sorry, no. I don’t want the presidential ballot to have both of Putin’s picks.

Damn I forgot that Putin helped Bernie LOSE the primary in 2016.

-
Bernie got as far as he did because he was artificially boosted by Russian interference and 4 GOP SuperPacs. A mediocre lifelong politician with zero legislative accomplishments sold to a naive voting bloc. Over a dozen 2020 candidates have far more accomplishments.

So I guess we should thank the Russians for the ideas he popularized becoming the new dem platform

Yeah it's like in the civil rights era where their big gotcha was saying the Soviets supported uhh, civil rights? Oh no they were trying to help ban segregation!
