Please use the disclaimer that this is a composite image of all the areas _affected_ so far, not a visualisation of what is _currently_ still burning. Of course not to mitigate the impact of what is happening, but moreso to curb the 'fake news' callers.

Good point. I spotted this earlier too. Does anyone have a link to describe how this image was constructed?https://twitter.com/NickEvershed/status/1213982781623033856?s=19 …

horrific but not a photo. It's photoshop created by Anthony Hearsey & posted on Instagram. “A 3D visualisation of the fires in Aus. Scale exaggerated from NASA’s FIRMS data 5/12/19-5/1/20 These are all areas affected by bushfires. note that not all areas are still burning."

I mean the OP literally said 'visualisation'

Well it's a 'creative representation', of fire occasions over a full month, and the 'burn regions' have been exaggerated for effect - according to the creator. Other than that - fine.pic.twitter.com/uqSm3R33z9

How he created the image, is blogged by Anthony Hearsey here:https://grafixartphoto.com/2020/01/06/3d-visualisation-of-the-fires-in-australia-by-anthony-hearsey/ …

Very compelling, but image of the decade? It's not a photograph.
