I have an issue with medically unnecessary surgery on those unable to give informed consent. I don't think that's an unreasonable position.

This is why as treated analysis is problematic: 64k participant RCT of cancer screening shows those who were nonadherent to ca screening had increased non-cancer mortality. File this away to rebut those who want to do per protocol/as treated analyses.

I gotta say this parachute analogy has been a HUGE detriment to medicine/ EBM. Nearly nothing in medicine has a 99.999% Absolute risk reduction on mortality over a 30 min time horizon. The analogy is spurious. Always was. We show misuse here:

I love when a radiologist states at the end of his/her report: “no further imaging is recommended”. 👍👍👍 More of that is needed

We've finally answered the burning question - how long does it take for an ingested lego head to pass? THIS is dedication to paediatrics - but it was worth it to advance science and paediatric emergency care.

If a CAM practitioner diagnoses you with: Leaky gut syndrome Subluxations Adrenal fatigue Systemic candida Now, leaky brain syndrome All the above terms are popular pseudo-medical terminology used as marketing. They aren’t a diagnosis.

Still reflecting on the events of last week, where through the magic of subgroup analysis, the media, and trial authors, we learned that taking fish oil will prevent MOST heart attacks in African Americans. Only God and @VPplenarysesh could possibly question a HR of 0.23 for MI.

It is vital that benefits of screening are balanced against harms and costs. We need rigorous analysis of evidence, and heads must rule hearts.

thank you. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT TELLING MEN TO EXAMINE THEIR TESTES MONTHLY REDUCES MORTALITY OR MORBIDITY AND MAY HAVE UNINTENDED HARMS

Portsmouth Council have done this to most of the streets. It’s fascinating, sad and scary. But hats off to them; it brings it home how many died.
