I stopped reading or contributing to Hacker News a decade or more ago. The people there aren’t worth it. They’re mostly pseudo-intellectuals in the tradition of Paul Graham - meaning they use big words, without actually knowing anything about the topic.
Oh dear god yes. I once got into an argument with PG after failing to appreciate his inane take on How To Do Philosophy (where we learn that all of philosophy is an disaster of Aristotle-based origin until bought to heel by Bertrand Russell, Wittgenstein and PG himself).
