I feel like I should post some plug-in recommendations even though I feel pretty out of touch with what is new in the industry. I've been enjoying seeing everyone else's posts. So, here are my "desert island" plug-ins.

Limiting/Mastering - @iZotopeInc Ozone. I love that it is modular, and I usually instantiate this on the Master after all design is done. It can be subtle, or you can smash the hell out of something if desired.

Compression - @soundtoys Decapitator - I usually hit the Punish button and wet/dry to taste for anything that needs to punch. Couple with a transient designer of choice, and Rbass or Lowender for optimal results. Works great for weapons, or explosions.

Doppler - @TONSTURM Whoosh (formerly melted sounds) Pretty much all of my source material goes through this. I parse samples, and put them into a sampler. Projectiles, Spaceships, Magic spells galore! Curious if Traveler is an upgrade though.

Grain Pitch - @uheplugins Uhbik G - I can't tell you how many times I've used this. Great for Sci-Fi, great for organic things like creatures. Amazing textures.

Source generation - @twistedtools S-Layer Reaktor ensemble. Great for glitches, UI, and getting interesting textures. @illformed Glitch 2 is great for processing things like Robot Vox. @blinksonic Ruidoz is madness for glitch/sci-fi textures. Robot Vox as well.

I feel like there will be no surprises here. Like I said, I am not a very good source for "dark horse" software which everyone is searching for. Some other's recommendations that intrigue me are Envy, and Manipulator. If anyone wants to vouch for those I am all ears.

Oh yea, and to be clear...I am not being paid to endorse any of the above. This is just my opinion not any sort of advertisement.

If you're one of those folks that hacked Whoosh to run live signal through it, then yeah, Traveler is an upgrade. If you like the sampler and randomization stuff, stick with Whoosh.

Traveler is honestly more analogous to Waves Doppler. It's a lot faster to get up and running for processing sounds, but it's not the same source generating work horse that whoosh is.

I read the user manual a few days ago and started unlocking full potential of Whoosh. Wow! I've had it for 2 years and was using it with very limited capabilities. Now finally realizing full sound design power of Whoosh!
