It wasn’t a motivational speech, actually. But that’s immaterial. Im still taking the hard worker every time. In football, I get Peyton and Brady, you can have Russell and Manziel.

You don’t think Peyton and Brady have insane natural talent? Got there via hard work alone. Lolokokokololololoookilolklolololololololololklolokooololoolollolololoololokokoollollolokloloololoolololo

Where did I say that? Peyton has/had incredible talent. Among the most skilled ever to play.

This debate is about people who have god given talent vs those who work hard. Your statement came across contrary to that

If you give me a person born with average skills, whatever those are, and has top 1% work ethic (hard, smart and often) versus a guy born with top 1% skills but average work ethic, I'll take the first guy. Apply to any field, job, sport, etc.

I’d say those two are likely interchangeable, approximately. But, the 1% work ethic has a ceiling. The other doesn’t.

Assuming they are interchangeable, we can decide to work harder or smarter or more often, we have no ability to change our innate skills so there is no point dwelling on them. We become the choices we make. But if you don't believe in free will I guess that's a hard point to make

Free will does not exist. You can’t make a choice that wasn’t introduced to you at some point in your past. This is the root of compassion and understanding in my opinion.

Introduced to you through environment or genetics. Babies cry when they are hungry too :)

True. Have you seen
@joerogan new comedy act on Netflix? He's got a great bit on the nature of cats killing everything in sight. It's a great hour of stand up.1 reply 0 retweets 1 like
Made me think of Jordan Peterson talking about how a fear of snakes goes so far back in or evolution that it’s part of the reason our eyesight evolved the way it did. Or how seemingly everyone is can stare at a campfire in a trance like state.

The whites in our eyes has been argued to come from the tribe for trust so you can see where people are looking and get a read on honesty
