Humans only have two pigments that help make all skin colors! The pigment eumelanin has two types, black and brown versions. Pheomelanin is mostly responsible for red-colored hair. Another kind, called neuromelanin, gives dark colors to some brain structures.

Researchers are starting to use single-cell RNA sequencing in their studies of human tissues at the molecular level. But processing solid tissues brings challenges.
@NIHDirector and his collaborators evaluated several approaches for tackling this problem.https://bit.ly/2GhEq5MHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte. PoništiPoništi -

#TBT In March 1997, the New York Times reported on the Human Genome Project’s first completed high-resolution map of the X chromosome. This map took 10 years to complete and was finished with the help of 25 biologists at the Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis.pic.twitter.com/DUZUxHQcumHvala. “We are at an inflection point. The language of genomics will be part of the language of health care in the coming decade, so we must raise awareness. Not only because it is way cool, but because it’s part of all of our health and well-being.” —

“So much of the way we’ve practiced medicine until now has been about how we deal with the average patient. But none of us is average. Each of us is unique. Now, we can tailor medical care, building on a fundamental knowledge of how the human blueprint actually works.”https://twitter.com/NHGRI_Director/status/1222517040197619712 …

In general, animals are less tolerant of chromosomal changes than plants. Many plants can acquire extra sets of chromosomes and not be harmed. In fact, for some plants, duplication of chromosomes has been a critical step in their genome evolution.

The axolotl salamander is an amazing animal, with the ability to completely regenerate body parts, including bones, nerves, and muscles. It has the largest genome ever sequenced with 32 billion base pairs, compared to our genome of ~3 billion base pairs.pic.twitter.com/lP920kExdI

#OnThisDay In 1949 Alfred E. Mirsky, a biochemist, discovered that the amount of DNA is exactly the same amongst all members of a given species. He is also known for discovering DNA constancy, which proved the concept of DNA as the hereditary material.https://bit.ly/2srv8AKHvala. Twitter će to iskoristiti za poboljšanje vaše vremenske crte.
