I don’t want to change it for those of us who Ike it. I love my “work”. It’s my favorite “hobby”.

I wish there was a way to take the pressure off of those who don't have their work as their hobby. It's absolutely fantastic to do something you love! So few people find that.

Part of the solution might be to set the example of what’s possible in an efficient/focused 40 hour work week. I’ve noticed a lot of people in academia (myself included) working long hours with little gained
-
That would be interesting and it could be useful to see how different people get done in a week depending on how they normally work.

I've come across people wanting to show how "passionate" they are about science, implying that others that don't live and breathe science 24/7 can't possibly be passionate too, which is nonsense. In a system where comparison to others is difficult to avoid...just do you!

It's so exclusionary to say that if you don't give all of yourself to science then you can't be a part of it.
it pushes out creativity & any human connection. It all has to start from the top though, or else we're just judged to be lazy or entitled
-
Yes! I 100% agree with this.
